This Section 23 Toronto District School Board (TDSB) academic day school program offers clients under 21 the opportunity to earn high school credits. The program offers continuous intake throughout the school year. Clients must be under the care of a psychiatrist and preferably receiving case management services to ensure success in the classroom. Both CAMH clients and clients in treatment with community agencies can apply to this program. Clients must be able to tolerate the classroom environment.
The program is geared specifically to the needs of individuals with mental health challenges. A wide range of subjects taught by two TDSB teachers may include English, literacy, math, science, visual art, drama, phys-ed and learning strategies. This classroom of the Toronto District Secondary School (TDSS) operates from September to June, 4.5 days per week, and follows the TDSB calendar. The expectation is for a client to complete 3 credits per semester.
