Individuals experiencing acute exacerbation of schizophrenia and related disorders
Acute Care B: Admission from CAMH Emergency Department
Medication Assessment Program for Schizophrenia (MAPS): Have your family doctor or psychiatrist fax the CAMH referral form to Access CAMH at 416 979-6815. A pharmacy-generated medication history or historical medication history AND a psychiatric history, including personal/family and personal medical history, is required at time of referral.
Integrated Rehab Unit (1-4): internal referral only.
CAMH's Acute Care Unit B provides short-term stabilization and treatment for patients who are experiencing an acute exacerbation of schizophrenia and related disorders.
CAMH's Medication Assessment Program for Schizophrenia (MAPS) offers outpatient consultation services for individuals whose antipsychotic medication therapy is suboptimal.
MAPS provides specialized evaluations for partial response or treatment resistance for individuals with schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder and antipsychotic related side-effects, such as movement disorders, regardless of diagnosis. This service also includes a clozapine clinic.
CAMH's units 2-2 and 2-3 provide care for individuals requiring hospitalization for treatment of schizophrenia or related disorders.
The interprofessional teams offer care to patients experiencing less acute phases of illness but still in need of intensive treatment and support.
CAMH's Integrated Rehabilitation Unit is a transitional inpatient program for patients who have schizophrenia or related disorders.
The goal of the IRU is to provide recovery-oriented, interprofessional and holistic programming that assist patients in achieving their individual rehabilitation goals. Emphasis is placed on supporting active rehabilitation through ongoing skills development and supported transition into community.
